The Challenge
Auckland Council are responsible for the management of 6000Km of piped stormwater reticulation across the Auckland Region. To ensure that the most critical of these assets are monitored and repaired or renewed in a timely fashion so that they do not fail, Auckland Council strategy was to undertake inspection of 200km of critical pipe each year. A project of this scale presents challenges to ensure that the best methodology for inspection and quality can be achieved as well as then evaluating the quantum of data to determine the pipe condition.
The Solution
ProjectMax was engaged to prepare specifications, provide technical advice on specialist inspection equipment and to help develop an online data solution to enable the planning and capture of the large amounts of inspection data and video. ProjectMax role also included undertaking quality audits, condition assessment, and renewal scoping for the assets at the end of the useful lives.
The Result
Auckland Council have been successfully capturing information on their most critical pipe assets since 2015 which has enabled them to better understand the condition and performance of their network, evaluate replacement cost and plan for asset renewals.
